Gafur-Arslanbek Akhmedovich Rakhimov was born on July 22, 1951 in Tashkent in the family of white-collar workers.
1958 - training in a sports boarding-school, boxing.
1968 - service for a fixed term in the Soviet Army.
1975 - student of Leningrad Economic Institute named after Palmiro Tolyatti, specialised in planning engineering.
1975-1986 - employment at the Ministry of Trade of Uzbekistan, at the same time coach in boxing at the Central Sports Association "Dinamo".
1986-1990 - participation in the public movement ACCSE (Association of Cooperatives, Corporate and Small Enterprises).
1990-1993 - foundation of the Export and Import Company in cooperation with European business partners.
1993-1998 - Vice-President of the International Boxing Association of Uzbekistan.
From 1998 - member of the Executive Committee of the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA), Chairman of the AIBA Business Commission.
From 1999 - Vice-President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) from Central Asian region, Chairman of the Central Asian Area of the OCA.
From 2001 - Vice -President of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, re-elected in 2005.
From 2002 - Vice-President of the Amateur International Boxing Association (AIBA).
2003 - awarded Honoured Order of the Olympic Council Asia.
From 2004 - Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Republican Charitable Fund "Mehrjon-Sport". In the first years of independence of the present Uzbekistan G.A. Rakhimov launched a number of commercial companies which worked on a large and wide scale taking advantage of all the benefits arising from the market economy. The sphere of his commercial interests involved trading in consumer goods, broadening international commercial relations. G. A. Rakhimov carries out his business transactions via a number of companies where he is a leader and main share-holder. Namely these companies for ten years already have been performing fruitful cooperation on a solid economic basis with the world-known companies of England, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Holland, the USA, Switzerland, France. Under the contracts made with the companies of G. A. Rakhimov Uzbekistan exports consumer goods, raw materials for chemical, automobile and light industry. Besides that, joint enterprises established by him with the companies of various countries have proved to be efficient and successful.
