Nowadays in the business world such conceptions as social responsibility of business and social partnership are gradually gaining more and more significance...
It is important to feed and dress a child but it is even more important to bring up and educate him as a personality in the interests of the society and state.

Traditionally businessmen all over the world are involved in charities. Uzbekistan is not an exception. However, nowadays the social involvement of our companies in most cases is of temporary character - it lacks proper planning and system arrangements. Charitable projects mostly appear all of a sudden and they don't presuppose any feedback from the targeted parties. Many philanthropists prefer to follow the most common and least efficient pattern of rendering assistance - a single distribution of small amounts of money, goods and etc. to those who are in need.

In 1992 Uzbekistan ratified Convention on Children's Rights having taken the obligation to obey all its regulations and bear the responsibility in the face of the world community. Almost half of the population of Uzbekistan, which makes 11 millions, is children and this obliges the society to a tremendous responsibility. At the highest state level in the republic a lot is being done for educating and bringing-up the  growing generation. But there are still numerous problems that are to be solved at the level of the whole community.

G.A. Rakhimov, as one of the leading businessmen of Uzbekistan in the very beginning of his commercial activity rendered humanitarian aid for children's homes of Tashkent: he transferred certain amounts of money earned, bought medicines, clothes, school appliances, food and etc. with his own money. He always believed that businessmen indeed are capable of providing significant support to the state in terms of financing hospitals, children's homes and boarding-schools. Namely this led him to the establishment of the Charitable Board of Trustees «Ìåhrjon» (Mercy), and he became the initiator and Chairman of the mentioned institution. The Board  was performing its activity for more than seven years on a voluntary basis and provided humanitarian aid for children's homes and boarding-schools, children-orphans and invalids. Within the period mentioned there were organised and held 30 marathons and festivals of children's art among inmates of children's homes and boarding-schools. But he was not to stop at the attained. Thus, in 2000 at the sea-side of the Black Sea in the Russian city of Anapa G. A. Rakhimov purchased a run-down building of a deserted sanatorium and the surrounding land. The building was fully renovated, the area had undergone complete changes. The restored modern children's health resort was the gift of G.A. Rakhimov to the inmates of children's homes of Uzbekistan who are sent to Anapa every summer for recreation and treatment at his own expense. The new sanatorium has already hosted thousands of children from Uzbekistan, including children from the Republic of Karakalpakstan - the region of ecological disaster.

     G. A. Rakhimov was aware that in order to provide a large-scale and thoroughly planned aid it is necessary to have a properly centralised and organised structure. That's why under his initiative in August 2004 there was established the Republican Charitable Fund "Mehrjon-Sport". The objective of the Fund is to support talented children in the field of sports from socially vulnerable groups, namely inmates of children's homes, boarding-schools and children from needy families, to popularise the idea of doing sports actively among children and teenagers. One of the tasks of the Fund is the correction of mental health of inmates of children's homes and boarding-schools creating proper conditions for their social adaptation and self-realisation through the system of supplementary education together with other children.

Under the initiative of G. A. Rakhimov and the financial support of the RCF "Mehrjon-Sport" on September 29, 2004 there was opened the Cultural and Educational Centre of Children's Art "Baxtli Bolalar" ("Happy Children"). In the centre "Baxtli Bolalar" one can find the following studios and circles: ballet studio, studio of Fine Arts, studio of design and dress-making, computer class, studio "Skillful Hands", musical class, linguistic class, chess club, library. Professional trainers and coaches work with the children. The classes for all children are free of charge. The Fund provides the children with the opportunity to get professional training. After completing their education the children get diplomas for their further employment.

On September 23, 2004 under the initiative of G. A. Rakhimov on behalf of the Fund "Mehrjon-Sport" there was sent a humanitarian cargo for the children and families who suffered from the terrorist attack in Beslan (Northern Osetiya). The cargo of 29,5 tonnes containing children's warm clothes, medicines, TV sets, video tape-recorders, electric heaters, refrigerators, bed clothes, 2 "Ambulance" vehicles, preserved fruit jams, chocolate, fresh juices was sent by a specially chartered aircraft and officially given to the representatives of  the Government Commission of Northern Osetiya in Beslan.
